Approach unlocking and connectivity are separate conditions
U400's UWB function identifies a user carrying a compatible device as they approach the door; Matter over Thread connects to the home system. These serve different purposes. Before purchasing, separately check the phone or watch model and whether the home has the corresponding hub.
The manufacturer specifies supported iPhones, Apple Watches and a Thread-enabled Apple home hub for UWB. Other Matter ecosystems also require a Thread-compatible Matter controller for that ecosystem; having a Wi-Fi router alone does not meet all conditions.
Using the two panel sizes for site checks
The interior panel measures 178 × 76 × 46.9 mm, and the exterior panel 167 × 76 × 25.5 mm. These envelope dimensions can support preliminary clearance checks between the door face, handle and other hardware, especially whether the interior projection obstructs opening.
These data do not provide complete hole positions or connection references. Before replacing an old lock, obtain the installation template for the corresponding U400 order version rather than using panel dimensions directly as drilling dimensions.
Charging and low-battery handling
The product uses a rechargeable lithium-ion battery with USB-C charging and emergency power interfaces; the manufacturer states that an alert occurs at 20% charge. Routine maintenance can use that alert as the trigger to charge, avoiding reliance solely on stated battery life.
Emergency power requires an external source; it does not guarantee long-term automatic operation after the battery is depleted. During installation preparation, confirm interface position, cables and emergency operating instructions.
Operating environment and version scope
The manufacturer specifies −18°C to 55°C operating temperature and 0–95% RH humidity with no condensation. The upper humidity limit does not permit immersion; exposed positions also require assessment against the specific installation instructions.
The same official page lists models including DL-D06E, DL-D16E, DL-D06D, DL-D16D, DL-D17D and DL-D15D; some kits differ in hub or battery quantities. Confirm the packing list by complete order model rather than inferring included devices from the U400 series name.
