Network Adapter AE1 adds 100 Mbps Ethernet and IEEE 802.3af PoE to Bridge 2 EB2. It is a wired network and power accessory for the gateway, not a gateway that independently connects to locks.

Installation compatibility

Place AE1 and Bridge 2 indoors, confirm that the switch or PoE injector meets IEEE 802.3af, and prepare Cat5 or Cat5e cable. The wired gateway location must still be within the lock's Bluetooth range; wired backhaul does not extend lock-side Bluetooth coverage.

Selection comparison

Bridge 2 can use Wi-Fi and USB-C on its own. AE1 suits deployments wanting data and power over one network cable. The first-generation Bridge is not listed as compatible with this adapter; similar gateway appearance does not justify connecting it.

Limitations

• AE1 is sold separately and requires Bridge 2 EB2; it cannot manage locks independently.
• Indoor use only in non-condensing conditions. 100 Mbps is the wired interface speed, not the lock operating speed.
