BHMA residential lock ratings

BHMA Secure Home residential lock ratings assess security, durability and finish separately. Read all three dimensions rather than treating the label as one overall grade.

Scope: Explains only BHMA residential labels; not equivalent to burglary-resistance grades in other countries or commercial hardware ratings.

What the three dimensions assess

The official label explanation lists Security, Durability and Finish, covering impact resistance, function after repeated operation and environmental resistance of the finish. The FAQ describes A, B and C ratings for each dimension.

Recording certification documentation

Check the exact brand, model, applicable standard and certification record, then link the rating to that configuration. Do not extend one product's label to the entire brand, or automatically change designed to a standard into certified.

No direct conversion to other standards

Standards may differ in scope, test conditions and classification. This library retains original standard names and ratings and does not convert letter ratings to numeric grades in another system. Verify requirements for the intended application when selecting a product.
