Maglock rated holding force

Rated holding force is the manufacturer's holding-capacity specification for a defined electromagnetic-lock configuration. For double-door information, distinguish values per leaf from values for the complete device.

Scope: Uses official Schlage M420/M422 specifications as reading examples, without assessing field loads or whole-door security performance.

Identify which leaf the value describes

The manufacturer specifies 500 lb. holding force for single-door M420 and explicitly 500 lb. per leaf for double-door M422. Keep per leaf together with the recorded value.

Do not simply add double-door values

Each leaf has its own locking position. Adding the two values does not establish that either single leaf can withstand the combined force.

What this parameter answers

When comparing documentation, confirm leaf count, configuration and manufacturer units first. This field provides no overall performance conclusion for the site frame, mounting components or door leaf, and does not replace installation documentation.
